Well, I had my interview.
Don't think it went too well though.
The first station was a clinical scenario - on overdose. And instantly everything I every knew escaped. Nuff said.
The second was two scenarios on ethics - went a little better than the first.
The third was a data interpretation - after psyching myself up in anticipation of complicated blood results, all we had to do was correct a drug chart and read a chest x-ray.
The fourth station, and one where we weren't allowed to represent our selves (or for that matter see what went on) was when our portfolios were scrutinised.
Who knows. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed. But not holding my breath.
On a slightly different note, looking at the others at the interview - most were foreign graduates and a lot of them looked a good deal older than me. One chap I got into conversation with (we were both over an hour early for the interview) reached SHO level in Nigeria, before deciding to do a masters in public health (yep, people wanting to do public health actually exist!) in England. He got caught up in the MMC/MTAS mess last year and ended up without a job. He has spent the last few months as an F2 and this time applied for public health, GP and medicine. Medicine being his last choice, and ironically the only one he got to interview stage in. If he doesn't get a job this time, he plans to go to the States, or Australia.
Not meaning to be horrible/controversial/whatever, but why waste jobs on people like this? He doesnt want to do medicine, and doesnt even care whether he works in this country.
I do! I want to work in England, and there is nothing other than medicine (general medicine that is) that I can see myself doung.
