Day 2 - part 2

Well....in retrospect I wonder why I worried. But the fact remains that it could have been much much worse than it actually was.
To start off with, there weren't any left over jobs from the day for me to attend to. Then the only jobs I got were to prescribe fluids and anti-emetics, and also to examine a lady with a puffed tummy to determine whether or not it was serious (it wasnt, thankfully). For the first time since I started working, I actually got to sit down in the doctors mess with a cup of coffee!
That said, I did make a hash of a relatively easy job, where I had to put a tube in a patients arm so that the patient could receive intravenous therapy. Thankfully there was clinical support - angels in uniform who can take blood off the most difficult veins!
So all in all, it wasn't too bad. However, as I'll have to work an evening one night a week, I expect there will be nights when I am rushed off my feet and find myself way out of my depth, the odds are I will.

*in case you are wondering my night did get worse after 9.30pm (which was when I left the hospital), but I'm not sure that's any of your business!
